Dondre Green is a believer in unconventional paths. A New York Bronx native, he is a photographer and multimedia artist who enjoys exploring new places and seeing his ideas translate to something physical.
With this in mind, Dondre set out to document New York City from street level. He sought out ways to capture that famous skyline from the vantage point of native New Yorkers. Strolling along East River State Park, peering down from the High Line, and gazing back at Manhattan from Transmitter Park.
McGolrick Park
“Not to be overshadowed by Prospect Park, McGolrick is an enchantingly serene local park that many Greenpointers indulge as a treasured public recreation and meeting area; central to the park is a pavilion and a statue commemorating the Greenpoint natives who lost their lives in World War I.”
Transmitter Park
“Transmitter Park is where Greenpoint Avenue meets the East River shoreline. It has some of the most epic Manhattan skyline views.”
East River State Park
“East River State Park is a seven-acre waterfront park located along the East River in the Williamsburg neighbourhood of Brooklyn. It is also a good spot for long walks and watching the sunset.”
High Line
“What used to be an abandoned railroad has been transformed into an elevated green space. Take the 7 train to the newly-opened Hudson Yards station and immerse yourself in the beautiful and lengthy High Line park.”
This photo journal was a collaboration between Dondre Green (@dondregreen) and Unpacked.
