Turns out that it may be able to help pregnant mamas have a much easier labor, delivery, and postpartum experience!. The last weeks of pregnancy are oftentimes uncomfortable
With swollen feet, an achy back, acid reflux and sleepless nights- who could blame you? Your due date is in sight, and your hospital bag is packed and ready to go.. For centuries, midwives and doulas have been singing the praises of birthing balls, specifically how they can be used to help induce a woman, and keep her as comfortable as possible during what will inevitably be several hours of labor.
Birthing balls have ALSO been proven to help speed up dilation of the cervix, and aid in moving the baby down into the pelvis, in preparation for birth.. Your birth ball also has the potential to lower some of the stress and anxiety you might be feeling, since you’ll have something else- balancing yourself on top of the ball- to think about, instead of the pain of your contractions.

Women can get their water to break with the help of a doctor, but it is not safe for them to attempt to break their water at home.. However, there are many natural methods that women can use to encourage labor to begin once the pregnancy has reached full term.
There are no proven safe ways for a woman to break her water at home. It can be dangerous if the water breaks before natural labor begins or before the baby is fully developed.
Women will notice either a gush or a trickle of water coming out of the vagina.. Many doctors say that women must give birth within 12–24 hours of the water breaking
Using the Birth Ball In Labor [14]
Among the many pain management tools one can use for labor, the birth ball is definitely a must have! The ball is extremely versatile, inexpensive and effective!. Most women instinctively start to sway or rock when seated or leaning against the ball
Movement also encourages pelvic mobility which can help move the baby into an optimal birthing position. Also, in many of the positions assumed with the use of the birth ball, the spine and pelvis are in a favorable position to help properly align the baby into a good birthing position and relieve maternal back pressure.
It takes the pressure off the motherÂs back and helps to encourage the baby to stay in a good position. Since labor may last awhile, it is a lot more comfortable to spend the time draped over the birth ball than it is to have the palms completely pressed into the floor with pressure on the wrists
