Although Princess Diana was famous for being on the quieter side — her nickname was “Shy Di” — she communicated quite a bit through her fashion choices. The Princess of Wales stunned in colorful suits and matching hats that were perfectly aligned with ‘80s and ‘90s-era style, and her pieces were crafted by famous designers like Catherine Walker, Stephen Jones, Bruce Oldfield, and Graham Smith.

“It is very surprising how little footage there exists of the Princess actually speaking,” said Eleri Lynn, curator of “Diana: Her Fashion Story,” an exhibit that went up at Buckingham Palace in 2017. “We all have a sense of what we think she was like, and yet so much of it comes from still photographs, and a large part of that [idea] is communicated through the different clothes that she wore.”
